We meet again! I’m still Samia Saad!

I’m a designer, illustrator, and writer from San Diego, California, currently residing in Los Angeles. I’m wildly passionate about literature, illustration, and journalism.

I graduated from UCLA with a degree in Design | Media Arts in 2024, where I received an extensive overview of technology as it applies to artistic practice. If that’s a mouthful of a sentence, it’s because it was a mouthful of a program, and I’m incredibly grateful for the ways it taught me to utilize my fine art skills in digital realms.

I was a cartoonist for UCLA’s newspaper, The Daily Bruin, for four years. It was there I learned how to work with editors and got a taste of the rush of seeing your work in print. It hasn’t faded. While working for The Daily Bruin, I earned three media awards: two national through the Associated College Press, and one state through the California College Media Association.

My work with editors continued in 2022 when I worked as a publishing assistant for David Kipen’s historical anthology Dear California, out from Stanford University Press. Getting a book across the finish line was a massive task, but I loved every minute of it: Tight deadlines, rapid turnarounds, email collaboration and all!

In my free time, I like to read, write, and bake—pecan bars are my specialty. And yes, I do share!
